This is an action for personal injury and property damage arising out of an automobile collision at West Main Street and Bassett Street in the City of Madison on April 5, 1952, at about 6:30 p. m. Bassett Street is a through street running north and south. West Main Street runs east and west and crosses Bassett Street at right angles. There are arterial stop signs at the entrance to Bassett Street. The plaintiff, Joseph Kraskey, was proceeding north on Bassett Street and was alone in his 1937 four door Buick sedan. The defendant, Neal York Johnson, was travelling west on Main Street in a 1950 Oldsmobile and was accompanied by a passenger. The cars collided in the northeast quarter of the intersection.
